Welcome to Morbid Planet’s seven days of Halloween destinations and fun!
To celebrate Halloween, everyone’s favourite morbid day of the year, Morbid Planet is exploring a different city each day and looking at what celebrations, activities and events they offer. We are counting down seven cities and who knows, maybe we will be looking at what your city has to offer next!
Our fifth destination is Las Vegas in Nevada.
If you are a true horror fan and like gore, the Saw Escape room would be an awesome place to check out.
For those of you that don’t know, the Saw horror movie franchise started back in 2004 and has released eight movies in total. The latest movie came out last year in 2017. They are some of the most disturbing and realistic movies you can watch in the horror genre. The Saw Escape website explains their experiences as:
The Official SAW Escape is an immersive, multi-room (progressive) escape experience that brings to life twisted games inspired by the blockbuster SAW film franchise. Guests enter the historic Egan & Co. Meat Packing plant for an after hours tour, only to find they are players in an elaborate game devised by the infamous Jigsaw killer and his disciples. By working together to combat their fears, venture far out of their comfort zones, and solve intricate puzzles, guests will have the opportunity to win their freedom as they traverse the twists and turns of an entire factory of Jigsaw’s games – one of the largest escape experiences in the world. **Please note: While the Official SAW Escape is designed to be an intense escape experience, it is only a simulation. Safety is a priority for us, and the Official SAW Escape is not intended to cause physical harm.
They are closed on Monday and Tuesdays, but open every other day until either 11 p.m. or midnight. Tickets can be purchased online starting at $49.99 USD. If you have more cash to spare, you can book a VIP experience starting at $89.99 USD. This one isn’t for the kiddies so leave the little ones at home. The minimum age to participate is sixteen years old. Photography is not permitted in this attraction and the website says if they see a cell phone you will be removed from the attraction immediately.
If attending the Saw experience doesn’t get you in the mood for Halloween, perhaps hunting zombies at Apocalypse Vegas will do the trick. For the month of October they are hosting special nights called Dead City Vegas.

Get ready to strap on some military gear and use an Airsoft gun. I had to look this one up. It is similar to paint ball gun, but the little balls you shoot don’t explode and make a mess. The company website explains in detail what their zombie experience is all about:
Scientist at a nearby genetic research facility were developing active viruses to attack and alter RNA. Shortly thereafter, communication with lead scientists and local populace had been lost. Immediate intel suggested intent within terrorist sleeper cells that were preparing to “receive packages.” Mission: Eliminate any and ALL mutated entities, living or otherwise, to prevent further spread of the virus. Additionally, kill or capture any identified terrorist cell members and under no circumstances, allow them to escape. Your third and final task is to contain, secure, and bring back the biological contamination agent.
After you gear up for the adventure, some training is supplied and then you are off to save the world.
You should expect chaos, insanity, sensory overload, fast-paced excitement, and you should expect to have a blast like you have never experienced; all while seeing what it’s like to be a Special Operations Assaulter today and a little bit of what they experience in combat! It’s all kind of like being on a roller coaster without a seat belt.
This event runs only this month on Thursdays to Sundays until October 28, 2018. Shows start at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., or 7 p.m. only. Book for only $29.99 USD a person, which is a steal compared to their usual hour and a half events that run up to $199.99 USD.
Like most people that go to Las Vegas, they take in a show or two. The Freakling Bros Horror Shows look like a blast.

The Freakling Bros. operate Nevada’s first and only R-rated haunted house. From now until Halloween they have a special event, The Trilogy of Terror. Their website describes the three themes shows as:
Castle Vampyre: a master stroke of horror and illusion, deep within the walls of this fortress beats
the heart of pure, unadulterated evil… you can feel it… you can hear it…but is it really happening? is there any way out? they say seeing is believing… you decide!
The Coven of 13: Freakling bros. presents the coven of 13 – an all new horror show that pushes the boundaries of complete and total immersion while offering a unique, company-trademark take on one of halloween’s oldest and most classic themes: witches, warlocks, and black magic:
Gates of Hell: a look at “the darker side of freakling bros.” the gates of hell is a sadistic experiment in absolute sensory overload. you won’t be a spectator. prepare for heart pounding, claustrophobic terror; face the reality of your own violent death…… and finally experience a slow and painful descent into cold, black nothingness to meet the prince of darkness himself.
Each show costs $15 USD or you can get a pass that covers all three for $39 USD. Tickets can’t be bought in advance, only on the night of the show. This sounds awesome and I only wish Vancouver had something like this! Make sure to check it out before Halloween.
Well, that is it folks. Stay tuned to see where Morbid Planet heads next for some more Halloween goodness!
